Welcome to the official blog for Bat Cave Road Farm!
If you’ve found your way here, you’re likely already familiar with the beautiful, rugged landscape of Old Fort, North Carolina, that we call home. We’ve spent the last few months working hard to get the land ready, building infrastructure for our livestock, and planning out our harvests. Now, it’s time to pull back the curtain and share the journey with you.
Why Start a Blog Now?
This farm is more than just a place to raise animals or grow produce—it’s an ongoing project, a learning experience, and a community space. Whether we are managing the daily care of our goats, pigs, and donkeys, experimenting with food preservation, or simply tending to the garden, there is always a story to tell.
We decided to launch this blog to keep you updated on:
- Life on the Farm: Behind-the-scenes looks at our daily routines and updates on our growing animal family.
- Seasonal Harvests: What’s growing in our Zone 7b garden and what we’re currently pickling, canning, or baking in the kitchen.
- Farm Projects: From building out our infrastructure to implementing new agricultural tech, we want to share the "how-to" and the "why" behind the systems we build.
Join the Journey
This is our very first post, but it certainly won’t be the last. We are building this farm from the ground up, and we are thrilled to have you along for the ride.
In the coming weeks, we’ll dive deeper into how we manage our livestock, share some of our favorite seasonal recipes using the herbs and produce grown right here on the farm, and provide tips for those looking to start their own homesteading projects.
Thank you for visiting, and we look forward to sharing the growth of Bat Cave Road Farm with you.
